  • What is a Chiropractic Adjustment?
A chiropractic adjustment is a specific controlled force that is applied to a joint to restore normal motion to an area that is fixated or “stuck”. There are a variety of techniques used by the doctors including osseous adjusting and low-force adjusting.
  • What is the popping sound?
When there is misalignment in a joint, gasses that are in your body are pulled into the joint space. These gasses create a buildup of pressure. The popping sound is the release of the gasses from the joint space.
  • Who can get adjusted?
Our office treats newborn babies that are only hours old all the way up to geriatric patients. The variety of techniques we use allows it to be safe and effective for all ages.
  • Will treatment hurt?
When muscle soreness and inflammation are present there might be some discomfort with treatment. This typically will not last long and often feels as if you just worked out at the gym. Drinking plenty of water to flush the toxins out of the muscles and joints will help decrease the discomfort, and in some cases an ice pack might be needed as well. Typically, chiropractic adjustments are painless and therapeutic.
  • Do chiropractors prescribe drugs?
Chiropractors do not prescribe drugs. If there is any reason that your doctor feels you do need prescription pain medication, he or she will refer to your medical doctor.
  • How long until I feel better?
Everyone’s response time is different. Your doctor will discuss your complaints or conditions with you and the amount of time he or she feels will be needed to achieve your goals.
  • What conditions does chiropractic treat?
Chiropractors treat a variety of neuromusculoskeletal conditions in adults and children. Please reference our conditions treated section for a more detailed list of what chiropractic care can help treat.
  • What is the training for a chiropractic physician?
Chiropractic school is a five-year program following undergraduate work. Much like medical school, there is extensive coursework in gross anatomy, neuroanatomy, physiology, biochemistry, and pathology (to name a few). These subjects lay the groundwork for the more clinical courses taught throughout the program including imaging, physical diagnosis, physiotherapy, and adjusting. There is a clinical internship before graduation as well. Throughout the program four parts of the National Boards must be completed, as well as a Physiotherapy portion. Then the degree of Doctor of Chiropractic is awarded. Each doctor in this office then chose to expand their training with post doctorate certifications. You can learn more on the Meet the Doctors page.
  • Will my visits be covered by insurance?
Each insurance plan is different and we will be happy to verify your benefits for you and your family either before your visit, or when you arrive. In the event that we are not in network with your insurance company, we will give you the necessary information to file it on your own.
  • What if I don’t have insurance?
If you do not have insurance, we have affordable options for you.
